So – Thursday afternoon, I became the 'proud' new owner of metalwork in the lower back, in the meantime losing an amount of spinal fluid to the bone biopsy fella who was gouging about in my spine at the same time. Only one anaesthetic, two jobs done. <\/p>\n

Thursday night in Parkside was pretty horrific – entirely inadequate pain management that just wore off. Ended up with me howling 'I wouldn't leave a dog in this kind of pain' a the nurses, whose utterly useless response was 'I can give you paracetamol'. Yes, about as useful as blu tack to plug a hole in the Hoover Dam.<\/p>\n

Pain was better managed on the Friday, at least to the point where the new drugs (Oromorph, Diazepam and some antibiotics to tackle the 40 degree temperature I'd also amassed – mostly in my desperate quest to get help for the back pain!<\/p>\n

Managed to look serene enough to be discharged on Sat lunch. And then hd a pretty tricksy Sat night as not only was I feeling about as mobile as a lump of concrete, but Mr H spectacularly managed to put his own back out (the one where he goes kind of triangular and can only walk at a strange crab-like angle) but also to get a 36 hour dose of the raging trots, major stomach cramps and the knackeredness that comes with endless splatting. Something I very much don't want to catch, so we have spent all day on separate floors of the house, FaceTime=ing each other. Oh, the romantic loveliness of it all!<\/p>\n

I only crawled out of bed at 2pm as J&R were coming round for tea at 3pm, at which point I had 'breakfast' (piece of carrot cake). Which has since been followed by 'lunch' (half a bag of Sensations) and just now, 'dinner' (a walnut whip).<\/p>\n

Still toying with a possible dessert ('Terry's orange segments or the last couple of days from H's Malteasers advent calendar).<\/p>\n

Plenty of food in the fridge and freezer, but as they say, the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. Or too full of sweet calories to care…<\/p>\n

Anyway – check out the new rail tracks down my back. Apparently there are 16 staples to be removed this Friday at my GPs – although H is quite keen to have a go at it himself. Never. Going. To. Happen.<\/p>\n

And in al honesty, it's MUCH more painful than I was expecting. Can\\t put pants on as involves bending close to the floor. Can't empty the dishwasher for similar reasons. Reaching high is also out, so no putting the xmas cards up – as is anything involving carrying, so the flower jugs need a refill but its not looking good right now. And I did;t get onto writing any of our xmas cards – just a bit too much for today.<\/p>\n

Man alive, very much hoping it will have subsided into gentle throbbing some time in the next few days. Have to see Prof tomorrow (going to get an Uber, pretty sure driving not entirely legal right now) to see if he will sign off the final Dara pre-Xmas which I need him to. So it's a full dose of everything before I go and let's hope he does;t notice the slight slurring and numbness of facial muscles when I get there…<\/p>\n

Youuch. Also hoping Santa has something extra good in his sack this year because this early gift sucked! (Unless it proves in a few weeks to have worked, in which case I take it all back, soz Santa).<\/p>\n

Right – time to creep back to the sofa for more telly before the mountainous climb to bed. Everest, here I come x <\/p>\n
