{"id":764,"date":"2016-12-22T11:07:57","date_gmt":"2016-12-22T11:07:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/scottysblog.com\/its-staple-time\/"},"modified":"2016-12-22T11:07:57","modified_gmt":"2016-12-22T11:07:57","slug":"its-staple-time","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/scottysblog.com\/home\/its-staple-time\/","title":{"rendered":"It&#8217;s Staple Time&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>So &#8211; this afternoon I&#39;m due to have my 16 staples taken out that are currently holding my back together.<\/p>\n<p>Only issue is, it&#39;s only day 7 since the op, and they&#39;re meant to come out somewhere between 8 and 10 days afterwards.<\/p>\n<p>But &#8211; the GP nurse isn&#39;t in tomorrow, and days 9 and 10 are Xmas Eve and Xmas day, so not quite sure who I can wrestle into service on those days.<\/p>\n<p>So &#8211; today could either be:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Nurse takes them out today, all nice and easy, no problems (my preference!)<\/li>\n<li>Nurse tries to yank them out, they&#39;re not quite ready to let go, blood everywhere, a right mess (hmm, not so keen on this one)<\/li>\n<li>Nurse says &#39;No, too soon to take them out&#39; &#8211; but has no suggestions as to who will taken them out (wonder how steady Mr H&#39;s hand might be after a couple of large eggnogs, like a game of Operation, will he set the buzzers off?)<\/li>\n<li>Nurse says &#39;go to X place on Saturday and they&#39;ll do it&#39; &#8211; happy for this option but not convinced anyone will be wielding tools on Xmas eve (and actually be sober)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Place your bets now on option 1-5&#8230;. Good job I can&#39;t actually see my back hey?<\/p>\n<p>Pain overall is feeling WAY better than it was a few days ago, so that&#39;s good. And I actually managed to get my own socks on this morning. And pick up the dog bowl to refresh the water &#8211; all low level things that are a bit tricksy with a newly metalled-up back. So &#8211; good progress.<\/p>\n<p>Now just have to see Prof at 1pm today to convince him that:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>I don&#39;t have a temperature<\/li>\n<li>I&#39;m not as off my t+ts on the meds as I was when I had my last Dara pre-Xmas on Tues (I was stoned and laughing at everything, what a state! Quite liked it, actually..)<\/li>\n<li>I can go ahead with all the injections and pre-transplant stuff as per the current plan<\/li>\n<li>If there is ANY way I don;t have to come all the way back to London on the 30th to see him for a &#39;final check in&#39; then that would be a major bonus. Doubt I&#39;ll swing this one, but it would be so nice not to have to schlep all the way here by train and then all the way down to J&amp;R&#39;s cottage. Did try suggesting Skype but he didn&#39;t bite &#8211; will have another crack today.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>So &#8211; things not too bad, which is better than it might have been. And Scrumpy has only eaten 3 of the xmas presents so far &#8211; little sod &#8211; which is the same as last year (how she got that enormous Xmas pudding down her chops, I still don&#39;t know.
