Doesn't time fly when you're having fun… or are tethered to a bed and can't escape…<\/p>\n
Quiet eve last night apart from the endless clicking of the IV which they insisted ran all bloody night. Pain in the arse being attached to the bed with the alarm going off every time I bent my elbow, where the cannula is, my only properly working vein right now.<\/p>\n
Now of course, the bag finished a couple of hours ago and as yet has not been replaced. Probably waiting for this morning's blood test results to be run by Prof and his almighty decree of what stuff I get next.<\/p>\n
Good news is that I have managed to use one of the mouthwashes three time so far today, without incident. Only for about 8 seconds each time, but hoping it's a start.<\/p>\n
And – ta da – I've just had a tiny bit of lunch! First solid food in over a week. Bottom half only of a very mayonnaise-y egg sandwich, little bites that needed extra chewing and some concentration to swallow. Followed by a few tinned peach slices, nice and neutral, washed some of the remaining bread sludge down the hatch.<\/p>\n
Feels quite weird to actually eat, it's amazing how fast you can lose track of a behaviour you've done all your life (to excess..) I used to be able to practically inhale a roast lamb dinner and now it's as if I've never tried solid food. So, hopefully, two small glimmers of progress on the path towards getting back out of here.<\/p>\n
Had a short walk up and down the corridor as well. Man, I'm going all guns today. Thanks to everyone for the lovely messages, all very good grist to the get better soon mill.<\/p>\n
Claire popped in for an early afternoon hello, short visits good right now. And Vicki has just left, good to see her latest This Girl Can print ads which should be up in a bus stop \/ on a billboard near you now.<\/p>\n
Saw Prof and have negotiated…… getting out of here tomorrow afternoon, unless anything kicks off between now and then. So just got to put up with a second night on the interminable drip. Did have a bit of dinner to try and keep up a bit of eating – was only a simple tomato pasta, but to me was excessively garlicky as all flavours and smells seem extreme to me right now. Had to find the sweet spot of five minutes between it being too hot to put anywhere near my ulcers, and too cold such that it was claggy and harder to eat. Had about 15-20 bits of fusilli, plenty for now.<\/p>\n
So, a few little steps forward. Still finding it an effort to get out of bed, reach for the light switch, pour a drink etc, but hopefully a bit more energy will steadily come.<\/p>\n
Can't wait to get home again. Need a bloody good exfoliate as my snakeskin is still coming off in swathes. Tomorrow afternoon should be Great Escape 2. Will let you know x<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
