Pretty bad start as back went into contraction-like spasms, air-hissingly painful, could only move 1cm at a time, practically crying as tried to get shoes on and into the car with H.<\/p>\n
Got up to CCL desperate for painkillers as sweating, then cold, hardly able to move. Was put in a consulting room and fairly quickly they sorted some liquid morphine, which I thought I could manage. Only 5mls which is truly tiny, just about covers the bottom of a little plastic dosing cup. <\/p>\n
Composed myself and had half of it. Thought was ok so tried the second half only to spit it straight back out. And then the inevitable heaving began – what a surprise, I threw up into the consulting room's little sink. Bloody hell, can't keep anything at all medicinal down. Think the whole of CCL heard that performance so we were down to one last option, Voltarol, which to be given, uh hum, up the derri\u00e8re.<\/p>\n
After all, nothing says 'Happy Valentines Day' more than an anal suppository…<\/p>\n
Mortifying but necessary- and as if by magic, the spasms totally stopped within half an hour, such a relief.<\/p>\n
Prof then appeared, like Mr Benn. Tried to admit me again, but I parried him and negotiated being on the ward 12 hours in the daytime but not overnight.<\/p>\n
Apparently I have herpes simplex nesting in my mouth as well as the ulcers, which are smaller but still tricksy. So now have to have 3 doses of IV Acyclovir, which is an anti viral thing, I think, each day, to try and clear those puppies out.<\/p>\n
But the – finally – good news is that the mouth is at last much less mucous-y. And I have expanded my eating repertoire to half a chicken and bacon sandwich, something that would have been too chunky and dry a few days ago. And a bit of Parkside spag bol for supper. So chuffed with both of those little steps forward.<\/p>\n
And all seems to be good on the more important Myeloma front. I didn't get to ask Prof for numbers or detail as I was too busy trying not to faint and not to get admitted. But he seems very pleased, bloods have recovered well and Linda said something about the lab querying the numbers because they were so good.. I'll probe more on this but seems to be a v good start.<\/p>\n
With all the palaver though, I didn't have the first of the monthly Dara maintenance doses, so that joy is still to come.<\/p>\n
So I'll be in the Dark Side tomorrow and Thurs for sure, poss also Fri, depending how the mouth evolves. Still hoping to get to the cottage for at least 1 night this weekend (it was meant to be three..) but will know more over the next few days.<\/p>\n
News flash: More good news – have just had my first biscuit! Only a soft and melty Viennese Whirl but very exciting for me nonetheless..<\/p>\n
Massively hoping this feeling of 'bit better' will continue, we will see. Catch you tomorrow, fabulous pop pickers x x <\/p>\n
