So, went up to CCL with Cathy today, to see Prof. All a bit of an anticlimax as his first comment on the biopsy was 'well, the good news is that they haven't lost the sample'. Well, no shit Sherlock, I was kind of hoping that after all that palaver, they might have stuck the right name on the aspirate and parked its little dish somewhere visible….<\/p>\n
Apparently they check them after 24 hours and the good news is that mine hadn't done anything 'or you'd probably have pus in your back'. Well, thank goodness for small mercies, hey?<\/p>\n
Then he said 'well these things are slow, they can take 5 days or even a week'. So I reminded him that today was Day 8 post-biopsy… <\/p>\n
Anyway, long story just to hear that the working hypothesis is still that it's an infection causing the pain. Which could take 3-6 months to kill off. And so I'm now on double the dose of the steroids – a whopping 60mg, 12 tablets a day from tomorrow. Will be interesting to see if the uplift in quantity gives me a similar reduction in pain to what it delivered when I had the first steroid dose… we will see.<\/p>\n
Needed a cup of tea after all the thrilling micro biology and medical chat. Luckily Dav trotted all the way to sunny SW19 with some cracking brownies and mini custard tarts, perfect for a good old chinwag and catch up. Cheers Davlar.<\/p>\n
