Hello, hello…<\/p>\n
Spain already feels a bit of a while ago – and I've only been back 4 days! But was of course straight back to CCL on Tuesday to see Prof and start this month's chemo cycle, carrying on the normal routine until a change is needed. Although it was suggested that I have a follow up bone marrow biopsy 3 months after the one in January (that showed the presence of some active myeloma cells), I've managed to push this out till late July, with Ray's approval.<\/p>\n
So the plan is then to see what the numbers say, and it's what Prof calls 'restaging' – seeing what point you're at. It's (sort of) possible that the reading will either be the same as it was in Jan or perhaps not even visible this time – apparently it can vary depending on which bit of inner bone they snip out – so I'm obviously hoping for that end of the spectrum of options. Or it may of course show that the percentage of dodgy cells has increased. The good thing is that I feel fine (well as much as I ever do!) at the moment so I can't feel myeloma doing anything differently to the last few years, which I'm hoping may mean it is only creeping back.<\/p>\n
I won't hear from the doc who does the BMBs until probably July so no idea yet what date that will be done. And I guess it will go along with a PET CT scan as it usually does, which is also a more accurate way off spotting any active cancer action than just the monthly blood tests alone.<\/p>\n
So – sort of off the hook for the next 2 months still, hurrah. <\/p>\n
H also has his next consultant appt and blood test in late July, so both of us are a tiny bit on tenterhooks till then. <\/p>\n
We would love to book the house in Spain again for 4 weeks if we can, but it'll all have to wait till things are a bit clearer. That's fine for the house, but securing a ferry place for Maddie is the tricky thing – those dog slots go the minute they are released! Anyway, nothing we can do about it, just keeping our fingers crossed as ever, that we can continue to do nice things until the plan changes again.<\/p>\n
Am now sitting waiting for my second dose of Velcade this week, then it's off down to the cottage for the weekend (yay!) as H is still in Spain, swopping his nephew Reeve as a guest, for Jules who will be with him for a few days and doing the trip back to Blighty, via the vineyards, together.<\/p>\n
