And suddenly there it was, our final week in Sanlucar.<\/p>\n

Out to visit us came Clare Greenwood, fresh from her half marathon in Barcelona, with Andy, as well as Jane Beaton and Jon, revelling in a bit of downtime while David was away on a school ski trip.<\/p>\n

Cue yet more eating, drinking and lots of nattering.<\/p>\n

Also hopped over to Cadiz for the day, less than an hour away, making use of the \u2018puente nuevo\u2019 (new bridge) which our Spanish teacher had not yet crossed herself. We wandered around the obligatory old town, nipped up the big tower to try out the camera obscura and took a risk on an empty restaurant.<\/p>\n

A good choice as within half an hour it was chocca with locals. Trend setters, as always…<\/p>\n

Also had a very amusing evening in with a vast pile of paella and a mountain of chicken… oh and sherry, ever more sherry….. And gin.. And wine.. And tequila… Ross was on the vodka.. Somehow it turned into quite a big night!<\/p>\n

And then they were all gone.. Leaving us with just one final day as a four – hence the required rooftop at sunset shot, where even the dogs got in on the act.<\/p>\n

All too soon it was time for J&R to head on their way back to Blighty, and it was just me and Mr H for a day, so we headed back to the stunning beach at Rota and spent a very happy 4 hours walking, throwing the ball for a delighted wet Scrumpy and trying the last few things on the Azucar de Cuba beach bar menu that we\u2019d not yet had.<\/p>\n

Jules flew out this morning on the EasyJet flight that I am now sitting on, writing this. He will drive back with H while I slip back into English living. Most critically, our soft carpets (no more sweeping and mopping bloody marble floors every day), a hot bath, our decent bed and a cuddle with Furry Miss Mojo on the sofa tonight.<\/p>\n

Sanlucar has worked surprisingly well as I was probably the least keen of the 4 of us to go off somewhere for a whole month. Amazing what some daily sun, piles of fresh air, entertaining company, a bargain cost of living, some nice friendly bars and a pile of Spanish food can do.
