This is not going to be the most fascinating blog post ever – nor the next one, nor the next one at this rate! Funnily enough, not a huge amount of new stuff to report.<\/p>\n
The news is shite, albeit mesmerising – a bit like slowly sticking pins in your eyes. <\/p>\n
And yes, we are at home – of course – H still nipping out most days to walk the dog and me getting out once a week at the moment. Went down again to Leith Hill yesterday with H and Scrumpy – the car parks that were still open last week are now bollarded off, so we chucked the car on the verge and headed off into the woods.<\/p>\n
Where the hell else are people supposed to go to take their hour of exercise, if not the open spaces? I can see the reason for things being shut as a very clearly pointer that it's not BBQ & family party season, but deserted woods are about the only place I feel remotely safe at the moment. That and chez nous.<\/p>\n
Yes, we are making the most of video calls but they can be a bit depressing. So weird feeling jealous of people who are heading to work – even when they are faced with catching the virus, and being good citizens in helping with the struggle. It's only 3 weeks or so now and already the lack of things to do, and inability to leave these 4 walls very often is already taking a bit of a toll.<\/p>\n
Today's excitement could be the office cupboard. It's not that messy but beggars can't be choosers – me and a wet cloth & spray are heading up there shortly. <\/p>\n
And soon it's lunch – meals seem to be creeping forward and taking on a greater than usual importance and thrill. Not sure that prawn salad is going to be a total winner but maybe when the little potato leftovers are saut\u00e9ed with it, the excitement score might go up a tad.<\/p>\n
One glimmer of good news – the first tranche of Mum's estate has (finally!) been paid to Rick, Cathy & myself which feels like a good time to think about how we will – when we can – use some of it to create the little garden patio down by the shed, that I would like to have as a space to remember Mum. Still miss her terribly, with the only upside being that I am very glad she has been spared this nightmare.<\/p>\n
At least there is a virtual cocktails soiree planned for tonight – instructions are to make a G&T and put a special ingredient in it, and come up with a name for our creation – which is a good suggestion. God knows what delights my cupboards can offer – a tinned pilchard perhaps? I'm thinking maybe a dash of Chambord: 'Red Gin At Night – A Sheep's Delight'.<\/p>\n
Onwards into April – hope you are all managing alright in this very odd world. Miss everything about our 'old lives' and here's hoping hugely that some time this year, we get even part of them back x <\/p>\n
