Do you know what? This lockdown t time is actually going really quickly I think! Just with the small change of being allowed to see 1 person (or 2 on the drive), life has suddenly felt SO much more normal. Sure, we won't be hosting 10 person BBQs any time soon – let alone leaping on the tube to head up to town – but nor will anyone else for a while, so it's kind of nice to feel like we are all still in roughly the same boat.<\/p>\n
And seeing people in person has made such a nice difference. Much as Zoom & HouseParty etc have played a very useful role, and continue to do so, you can't beat a bit of face to face – even at 2 metres. So big thank yous to everyone who has appeared on the drive in the last few weeks, usually kindly bearing a mini top up shop (Sarah T – good job in finding the aubergines, passata and milk!) & Clare G some unexpected empanadas!<\/p>\n
Very good to see Sophie Green on her bike for a cuppa – I felt very left out as Hawksey was heading out for a cycle ride with Jules and the three of them were all resplendent in fancy Rapha bike gear and excess lycra, compared to my shorts and a t-shirt being worn for the 3rd day in a row look…<\/p>\n
So, I guess it feels like we are all finding our own level of risk and reward, and trying to find a way to make life feel as normal as possible as we carry on living like this.<\/p>\n
I can hardly believe how 'ok' it even felt to go and have my first Dara treatment at Parkside, since lockdown began. 2 months ago I would have been literally shitting it to go in there, whereas now, with lots of effort and reassurances on their side – and me in my chinese face mask (oh the irony), washing my hands frequently and being in a room right at the end of the corridor with only 1 nurse coming in – fully masked – the 7 hours there went really well. Quite nice in fact to have the full cooked menu on offer to select lunch from, even if it did mean missing my 'every single time I go there' jacket potato with tuna…<\/p>\n
Just lucky that no-one spotted me VERY nearly sipping my cup of tea (handle wiped with one of the 200 mini wipes they kindly put out to use) with my mask still on. Now that would have been very messy….<\/p>\n
Just waiting for Prof to decide if he wants me to return every 3 weeks from now on, so I can still fit in the full year's treatments, or to stick to the 4 week cycle. Hopefully find out this week x <\/p>\n
