Popped over to Hammersmith last week to check out the newly purchased flat of 'niece number three', Abbie, and her hubby Nick.<\/p>\n

A venerable occasion indeed – the first time any of my nieces has cooked a 'proper dinner' for us in their own pad – poor eldest niece having been gazumped on trying to buy a house for them to move into, from their weeny flat. Never will I forget the sight of Mum being carried up and then down 4 flights of stairs to that garret flat to get her slices of takeout pizza, as Jess had forgotten to mention there wasn't a lift!<\/p>\n

Anyway – I was feeling HUGELY pleased with the housewarming gift we had found for Abbie & Nick – I'd texted my sister in law to see what prezzie might be handy, as its not long since they got married, and was told that some fairy lights for the roof terrace would go down well, and also some gin.<\/p>\n

Fairy lights easily nailed, Amazon thank you very much.<\/p>\n

And – ooh perfect, I thought – Abbie had sent me her address and I'd clocked that Number 3 – their new house number – would make a bottle of Number 3 gin the perfect surprise for them. And it came in a fancy gift carton, so I was feeling well chuffed as I wrapped it, thinking that it might even become their new favourite house gin.<\/p>\n

All was well until we were just about to head off, and I got the follow up text from Abbie. 'Definitely meant to say 4 and not 3'!!!! Arrgggh – she didn't even know what number house they had bought!!! Still, it made for a good story as we still handed it over..<\/p>\n

Doesn't Abbie look like Julia Roberts?? Gorgeous girl.. We like to embarrass her with that thought every time we meet..<\/p>\n

Hey ho – a treat to be out and cooked for, well done niece 3. Come on Nieces 1 and 2 – your time is up!!<\/p>\n
