It's got to the point where things like another lockdown oddly don't feel that bad – it's just a sense of resignation now. I wonder if our senses have just been dulled as there is so little going on, that we are now at the point where we kind of don't expect too much and keep our heads down? Well, that's sort of how things feel now.<\/p>\n

As ever, very glad that Mr H & I are in this together – it would be very tough doing this alone. Especially for someone like me – I found myself saying to a friend, she a self-confessed 'non-people person, who sees someone once a week', that I am therefore very 'needy' when it comes to seeing people. I need other humans!<\/p>\n

And also to get out of the house – lovely as it is, boy do I need a change of scene frequently. So we were lucky to spend our last two nights of pre-lockdown, filling our boots at a couple of the local pubs. The Hand in Hand up on the Common is a frequent choice – very dog friendly and great pies in winter! Which we almost earn in terms of calories by yomping up there on foot (ish).<\/p>\n

But even more exciting was the re-opening of The Telegraph on Putney Heath, which very bizarrely shut on New Year's Eve almost two years ago, without a word of warning. So brilliant that it's been tarted up and is now much nicer, open plan and cosy – just a shame they threw back the doors just a week before lockdown 2! Anyway – we will be revisiting when we all can..<\/p>\n

And to round off the birthday celebrations I met Liz T in Richmond Park for a dog walk – not sure whether Scrumpy or Liz was suffering from worse hip pains on the day! Actually – it was def Liz. Who still managed to bake & ice some carroty birthday cupcakes AND pack a small flask with cocktail in it – yes, at 11am! Well, who am I to look a gift horse in the mouth? Of course we polished off the lot. Good job Ms T!<\/p>\n

So now it's a case of hunkering down, cracking on with some admin and hoping the WhatsApp buzzes with some invites to get out and about. Tomorrow morning I am even resuming my litter picking on the Common as H is off on a long day walk. Having been too scared to touch anybody's mess in COVID times, I've now decided that with care, it can be done. And there is SO much litter around – some bleddy pig people. Picking up crap – it doesn't get more exciting than that! <\/p>\n
