Well, didn't an unusual event happen last Saturday evening? The 'older Scotts' got together for possibly the very first time ever – I know! – while various partners were away, so it was just us four chickens. Me, Rick & Cathy and cousin Adrian.<\/p>\n

Went for a wander on the common, with Cathy very keen to stop as soon as possible and park on a bench. Had tea & cake (obvs) then a few drinkies before heading up to the Hand in Hand for a pub supper.<\/p>\n

Adrian, as the oldest, holds the key to a lot of family history, so always comes up with a few snippets. Apparently our dad was not a barrow boy in the East End, as I'd always thought. His original family name was (something like) Lefnoski, and is of Ukrainian origin. His daughter Scarlett is Jewish as her mother is (which I'd forgotten). And he looks most like his Uncle Ben (interesting…)<\/p>\n

He asked us which of our parents we thought we were most like. I said Mum, definitely in looks, with a bit of both of M&D's personalities. Richard adamant that he takes after Dad with his decisiveness – he saw Mum as too soft, though a touch of that in him perhaps  wouldn't go amiss sometimes!!<\/p>\n

Anyway – good to see everyone, especially as I remain the youngest BY FAR, despite Cathy trying to convince the HinH pub manager that she is younger than me. Could his eyebrows have risen any higher in disbelief?!<\/p>\n

Two other nice bits of social – a rare treat of a meet with Andy Morton, who I was at Catz with and who sang at our wedding. He has lived in Australia for far too long, with wife and two kids. Always good to see the old git and have a chinwag.<\/p>\n

And a night out with Curly too – a cheeky bit of Lebanese in Wimbers followed by my first experience of a Baby Guinness mini cocktail – Baileys on top of Kailua, surprisingly (given it has coffee in it) nice!<\/p>\n

H got back (from 'waking up' the boat, putting sails on, post-winter engine checks etc) last night – he's here one week before he heads to Spain, with me joining his a week later x<\/p>\n
