Yes – another cheeky night away at an English pub, this Tues.<\/p>\n

I managed to guilt Mr H into booking it last minute as he has just this morning left on the 2nd of his FIVE MAN TRIPS away in the next few weeks, all without me, so even he I think twigged that 'taking the wife away to soften the blow' might be a cunning ploy.<\/p>\n

The DatW is a good, dog-friendly pub, decent rooms, good food and is not that far from Canterbury, which we had an amble round on day 1. Still can't believe they try and charge \u00a314 per adult to even go through the archway that blocks all views of the cathedral. At that price is is possible the most COVID free place in the country as I'm pretty sure a lot of people will equally baulk at stumping that up for a short wander round it.<\/p>\n

The morning after the night before, we then headed off to Canoe Wild and hired a canadian open canoe to paddle down a crystal clear waterway for 6 miles. And at the end they pick you up and drive you back to your car – or for us, to the George & Dragon pub for a late lunch bite.<\/p>\n

Scrumpy has had a bandage on her paw for a while, so was SO desperate to get in the water (after being taken to the sea and not allowed in it). So we decided to let her jump out of the canoe and then hauled her back in by her harness. One VERY happy dog beast, paddling up and down… Though left Mummy with very wet thighs and shorts as I had to clamp her in the boat every time we paddle past a pair of swans…<\/p>\n

Her paw is now rebandaged and mending ok but slowly as it is a sliced pad on the base of her foot, exactly where she walks on it. At least its a bit cooler now – we'd usually have her paddling pool out by now to help her not overbuilt, but hopefully in another couple of weeks… x<\/p>\n
