Just back from my two annual weeks on ‘our’ sailing boat, having pottered around Montenegro this year – mostly as H was short of days he can spend in Europe, and this allowed him to be onboard without adding to his tally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

I headed out a couple of weeks ago, to join H with Fi & Rich, who had already been onboard for 10 days by the time I arrived, having sailed boaty from its home in Hvar, Croatia down to Tivat, Montenegro, to collect me. They seemed quite pleased to have a fourth person to balance the sexes and liven up the chat! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

We had a week together, mostly spent exploring the large Bay of Kotor, including a trip up the fairly new Kotor cable car to the top of the mountain – where we were pleased to discover a pretty good cocktail bar with a cracking view of the bays below. Maybe less keen on the terrifying looking rollercoaster they have also built up there, which swings its victims out over the cliff edge – nope, that wasn’t going on the trip list of things to do… Also very notable how many bloody influencers there are EVERYWHERE in Montenegro – it’s clearly place to be if you are a shallow nob who spends hours retaking photos with one arm in the air – apparently the latest pose, according to the girls next door who know about these things..<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We then mostly went off exploring the various bays and inlets of the Bay and the main coastline. Not many opportunities to go for any walks as everywhere is pretty much a strip of coastal road then straight up into vertiginous rocky mountains – not for nothing is the country called what it is. So it was mostly swimming, eating and drinking – ah well, someone has to do it – including a v nice meal at a poshy hotel that’s been built on an island off the coast. It was apparently a prisoner of war camp 100 years ago, so quite a bit of local opposition to turning it into a swanky hotel, understandably… Here, one of the very rare moments when my hair was (almost) under control – I looked like a minging frizz beast for the other 13.75 days. Here, me trying to hide my bleached hair with a subtly placed mojito..<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

And we had a very lovely little lunch at this waterside locals’ restaurant – where you can see the owners hauling mussels and oysters straight out of the sea to feed us, we were sitting all of 10m away from our very fresh lunch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With too much time on their hands, the boys then piled into ChatGPT and were very pleased with their ‘what would we look like with long hair?’ photo – scarily they actually looked quite good (if you like that sort of thing!)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

H & I then had the second week with just us together, with more swimming, moving from bay to bay, eating fish, doing a spot of sunbathing and generally not doing a whole lot – it was so blooming hot (35 degrees plus) that everything felt a bit too much to have a go at..<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He’s now got some other chums on board, then Jules & Nicky head out this weekend for the final 10 day stint, taking the boat back from Montenegro into Croatia and back to its base.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hopefully a full 6 weeks on board for Mr H will have sated his lust for sailing for a while – well, till next year at least… x<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
