Yup – it's not been the best of heath weeks for us two. My shingles is dragging on and I've had to miss chemo for 2 weeks both because I may be infectious to others and because chemo might make the shingles worse. Luckily, I am ahead of myself on this year's dates so it should still all fit in before Xmas.<\/p>\n

I also had to miss my booster jab on Monday last week as introducing one virus on top of an existing shingles virus might not be the best idea. So H went off and had his, and by the next day said he was feeling a tiny bit 'off', but we put it down to the effects of the booster jab.<\/p>\n

And the weather turned that week, so when he mentioned feeling a bit chilly we both put it down to him still being in a pair of shorts, which he insists on wearing from early March to the end of October every year, and us not having turned on the heating yet. (Plus the silly sod who came to look at our wifi router a while back had switched off the fireplace in a cupboard, which took some time to locate and enable us to turn the fire on!) But when it got to Friday and he got a funny taste in his mouth, the penny suddenly dropped and he did 2 lateral flow tests and a PCR – all positive. Aaaarrghhhh!!!!! Cue H heading to bed and me grabbing a suitcase full of bits and a pile of dog food and her tablets, and escaping to Parson's Green. Where J, Ross & I have been doing lateral flows every two days and very luckily, all have remained negative (so far!). And I have to watch Mojo now sitting on H at night instead of me!<\/p>\n

Very relieved that H seems to have had fairly minor symptoms as I write – he's lost his sense of taste entirely now, but has gone from feeling a bit blurrrggghh to perking up by yesterday. His 10 days isolation is up on Monday eve, then I just have to decide when it feels safe enough to move back home.. So, while the vaccines didn't stop him getting covid it is still brilliant that it's been what he calls 'a bit of flu' rather than anything more serious. Well done and thank you, the medical world.<\/p>\n
