{"id":2225,"date":"2026-06-28T18:17:53","date_gmt":"2026-06-28T18:17:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/scottysblog.com\/home\/?p=2225"},"modified":"2026-06-28T18:19:57","modified_gmt":"2026-06-28T18:19:57","slug":"our-last-week-in-spain","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/scottysblog.com\/home\/our-last-week-in-spain\/","title":{"rendered":"Our Last Week In Spain"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Having worried that two months in Spain this year &#8211; albeit with a pop back for 5-6 days for treatment in the middle &#8211; would be too long, the last week rolled round remarkably swiftly!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We even had a mini &#8216;trip within a trip&#8217;, by heading off to Ronda for one night. Foolishly on my part, I hadn&#8217;t clocked that the &#8216;through the national park&#8217; route actually meant &#8216;up and down hideous winding roads for 50km, defying death at every sharp turn&#8217;. That&#8217;s a route I will never be taking again.. And luckily stayed in a really nice (obvs dog-friendly) hotel, Reina Victoria, in Ronda. On the edge of town, with a cracking restaurant overlooking the massive gorge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/scottysblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/BF8E48DC-EBA3-4DE9-A4FC-C7180A49B4F7_1_105_c.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2229\" srcset=\"https:\/\/scottysblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/BF8E48DC-EBA3-4DE9-A4FC-C7180A49B4F7_1_105_c.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/scottysblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/BF8E48DC-EBA3-4DE9-A4FC-C7180A49B4F7_1_105_c-225x300.jpeg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All very pretty &#8211; and thank god &#8211; with a more direct &#8216;big road&#8217; to get us back to Chiclana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/scottysblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/DB1D63EE-2A0F-417F-BD8B-8BF7A9FCF883_1_105_c.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2230\" srcset=\"https:\/\/scottysblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/DB1D63EE-2A0F-417F-BD8B-8BF7A9FCF883_1_105_c.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/scottysblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/DB1D63EE-2A0F-417F-BD8B-8BF7A9FCF883_1_105_c-300x225.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/scottysblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/DB1D63EE-2A0F-417F-BD8B-8BF7A9FCF883_1_105_c-768x576.jpeg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">H managed to slide in a couple more padel lessons and has def upped his game while he&#8217;s been able to take advantage of the waaaaay cheaper lessons at the raquets club there. I had one lesson once my shoulder was better and turned up to the second one, sadly feeling rather ropey, for no obvious reason whatsoever. Just had time to introduce myself to the nice young fella, when I realised I was going to throw up &#8211; so had to unceremoniously leg it to the Aseos, and did indeed part company with my morning cup of tea. She is going to be very underwhelmed when she gets back to pool-less, sea-less Dora Rd next week..<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I am now home &#8211; and was straight into chemo blah blah on Friday &#8211; plus catching up with various chums before H gets back next Thursday. We have rebooked the house for next year and it is fast becoming a second home from home, or &#8216;Dora-on-Sea&#8217; as Janine has termed it! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We are very lucky to have found somewhere that suits us well, where we have been welcomed by the local Spanish people and the few ex-UK people who are there.
