Well, I certainly made the most of my 5 days back at home! Had to come back for treatment as no way I can escape CCL’s clutches for 2 whole months, although this was literally one (five minute) injection of immunotherapy as Prof has decided to give me a break from the second drug, Velcade, for 2 cycles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
So of course I had to build a whole lot of social and other medical stuff around the visit home, to max the time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kicked off with seeing my (git of a) shoulder surgeon. Yes the one who told me that ‘I only told you that you’d be back playing pickleball within two weeks (of the op) because that’s what you wanted to hear’. Yes, a totally outrageous comment when someone is deciding whether to go ahead with surgery. Now, 7 weeks later, I still have a shoulder that clicks painfully when I make sudden movements and is worse than it was before he operated – and def no sign of me swinging even something as light as a pickleball bat in the foreseeable future. Very pleased that I stood my ground with him and have reported this comment back to him. He also tried the line about the physios giving me the ‘wrong’ kind of physio and how he ‘despairs of physios’ doing this – I said that if he knows there can be a problem then it is his responsibility to either provide the exercises himself (literally a case of clicking on the relevant ones on a website), or to brief the physio with the type he wants – also not tricky, ‘agility\/mobility rather than strength-building’. See – pretty easy, grrr.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He sorted a steroid injection for me as now thinks the shoulder is inflamed – and it’s made a bit of a difference, but it’s still a long way from being a ‘normal’ shoulder, or even as good as it was pre op. Can’t wait for the next video call with him in ten days time..<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Apart from that I rammed in seeing the hygienist and dentist, and got a fresh pedicure. Saw Maureen with Ginny, and we were both very relieved that Maureen was still in pretty good nick, and had not declined massively in the 4 weeks I had been away (and Ginny had been on a cruise). <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Also saw my other older lady Jo and caught up on her medical gubbins and bits and bobs. Lot of admiring of her freshly painted living room, including the new gold feature wall… <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Had a nice walk on the common with Clare G and Fiona McA, and Smudge-dog, trying to stay out of the baking heat. And then supper that eve with Curly at the cute little Thai-on-Thames restaurant in Kingston – in a bit of a grotty side road but lovely service and very good food – and company obvs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Then snarfed a much needed haircut the next day (taming the straw) and headed over to Janine’s to hang out watching the tennis – which she’d been to in Paris in the week – and out for supper that eve to the (really good) Koji in PG. A cracking meal and good to see R’s nephew Joel and their chums Jeremy & Jeanette as well as J&R.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Topped that off with another supper out on Sun with neighbour Anita and older daughter Ellie – had to hit the village for a cheeky Giggling Squid as her younger daughter had some all-important A levels the next morning so didn’t need a noisy evening of catching up to disturb the mental juices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And also caught up with Helen D who is kindly house sitting for us while we are away and doing a sterling job of keeping the garden alive and the Amazon pile in check. Had a v early supper of the UK treat of a jacket potato together on Mon eve as I was then up at 3am – urgh – to fly back to Seville the next day. Although it’s always nicer when taken to LGW by my chum Clarkie, who now drives for a living. Some early morning gossiping was def a good start to a long travel day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And now I’m back in Chiclana for the next 4 weeks. In many ways the first month went pretty quickly in the end as I was a bit hesitant about being here for 2 months rather than 1 this year. Our good chums David & Mandy arrive this Sunday for a week, so lots is planned for their time here, including a lot of sun lounger ‘activity’, bring it on x<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
