{"id":2055,"date":"2026-03-08T12:18:14","date_gmt":"2026-03-08T12:18:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/scottysblog.com\/home\/?p=2055"},"modified":"2026-03-30T11:32:27","modified_gmt":"2026-03-30T11:32:27","slug":"dads-100th-birthday-get-together","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/scottysblog.com\/home\/dads-100th-birthday-get-together\/","title":{"rendered":"Dad&#8217;s 100th Birthday Get Together"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It seemed a good idea, in the middle of last year, to offer to host the Scott family get together at our house, to celebrate what would have been Dad&#8217;s 100th birthday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It then felt slightly less of a good idea as Hawksey &amp; I spent most of this week wondering and worrying about what the 19 attendees of different generations would eat, from the youngest at 5 months, through the 3-7 year old great nieces &amp; nephews, to the fussy teenage Dutch nieces through to the adults and cousin Adrian in his 70s.. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And then heading out to buy a mountain of grub, ordering 5kg of beef at the butchers, borrowing tablecloths from next door and dinner chairs from Henry-over-the-road. De-sprogging the place was needed, removing the rug, glass vases, sharp cornered coffee table etc and then setting every plate and bit of cutlery we possess, alongside the classy 100th Celebration serviettes that of course Amazon could provide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/scottysblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/9DFFF504-D591-4C13-8F17-D23529415B42_1_105_c.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2057\" style=\"width:442px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/scottysblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/9DFFF504-D591-4C13-8F17-D23529415B42_1_105_c.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/scottysblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/9DFFF504-D591-4C13-8F17-D23529415B42_1_105_c-300x225.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/scottysblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/9DFFF504-D591-4C13-8F17-D23529415B42_1_105_c-768x576.jpeg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sadly Jess&#8217;s family were too ill to join us, so we were 4 down on Sat morning, but it did give a bit more elbow room for everyone else! Cathy &amp; her girls knocked out a pile of canap\u00e9s and Cathy had brought a mountain of little kid prezzies, which went down well with Grace&#8217;s two boys particularly, when they eventually emerged from under the table.. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/scottysblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/E04A6E44-33A9-4185-B984-BA3CA7945B89_1_105_c.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2059\" style=\"aspect-ratio:0.7500090145314247;width:456px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/scottysblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/E04A6E44-33A9-4185-B984-BA3CA7945B89_1_105_c.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/scottysblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/E04A6E44-33A9-4185-B984-BA3CA7945B89_1_105_c-225x300.jpeg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We also met Adrian&#8217;s daughter&#8217;s fianc\u00e9 &#8211; a rather gorgeous Swiss chap &#8211; and heard all about the wedding plans in Rome.
