Bloody hell – I've never been able to drink wine, so spirits and cocktails especially have always been my solace. I've worked in drinks for years and years and thoroughly enjoyed it. I've always found booze a damn good way to relax and have a laugh, as do most people. So you can only imagine HOW IMMENSELY PISSED OFF I am that my alcohol tolerance seems to have got up and gone!<\/p>\n
Yes I know its hardly the worst problem in the world, but it is a bit irritatingly inexplicable. I've gone from being the person who has often been in a bar thinking 'hmm, that cocktail went down rather well, is it too soon to get another round in?' to now seemingly being Mrs Sober Knickers.<\/p>\n
Is this yet another crappy knock on effect of lockdown – where lots of people apparently drank too much and when it seems that I rather foolishly must have drunk far too little?<\/p>\n
Is it just 'one of those things' – that we could all do without cropping up?<\/p>\n
Whatever it is, we had two neighbours over last night and – somehow – stayed up till 2am. Literally years since the last time that happened. And very sensibly, so I thought, I span out three drinks over the course of 7 hours. While Mr H and the other chap demolished multiple bottles of red wine & white wine, several large brandies as well as margaritas and a gin & tonic.<\/p>\n
And who woke up 1 hour into her very late night's sleep feeling appalling? Me. Who got up every hour on the hour (slight sense of satisfaction about how oddly timely each awakening was..) to go sit on the loo, groaning and hoping I wasn't going to throw up?<\/p>\n
Yes, little Miss Three Drinks Is Clearly Way Too Much These Days, Oh Shit.<\/p>\n
Bollocks to it. One of the remaining minor pleasures in life looks like it's fecked off to live elsewhere.<\/p>\n
I've had a bacon sarnie. Dropped H at the tube. Walked the dog. Wrapped the Valentines bits. Cleared up the party mess. And am still feeling dodgy – recuperative jacket potato now in the oven and Nicky coming round later to watch the rugby. Here's hoping my thrilling Diet Coke can perk me up before then!<\/p>\n
