Helloo you mad blog readers, quiet day in the office or just feeling a but bored\/pissed off\/curious so tuning in for a quickie, as they say?<\/p>\n
Bit of a frustrating period of in-between-ness<\/span><\/strong> going on. Still on the road to getting back to 'normal' (if only this were really ever possible again) in terms of getting off the sofa and going out to do something every day even if its just a trip to Sains or the Post office to pick up a parcel (thanks Curly for the DVDs and nibbles – I've never had crisps in the post!). <\/p>\n And always wondering if any minor ache or pain is 'something serious'<\/span><\/strong> on the way or just a sign of old age. Have to say the constant itching of my hands is a bit of a bugger, only lessened by slathering applications of the fab Baby Coconut Massage Oil from Waitrose that I was recently given, also sloshes and slithers round a treat on my dry slaphead.<\/p>\n So, am making the most of this time as a period of planning<\/span><\/strong><\/span> – all the while hoping that I'm not completely wasting my time and that some or all of it will hopefully happen this year. Flights to Phoenix in the summer are in the bag and Jordan is getting close, only scuppered today by the third and last hotel not having availability when we want to go there – bugger! Back to the drawing board. And of course I need to suss out how insurance works on independent travel – will it cover all hotels, flights, booked diving etc if these have to be pulled at late notice? Or does it only work on package deals…. all a bit of a shag but once the trip dates are known I'll be back on the blower with the various odd insurers who'll consider taking on a Myeloma person… and seeing how many hundreds of pounds per trip they're keen to fleece me. Ah, for a return to the heady days of one annual travel policy… I should coco.<\/p>\n Have still got some hardy souls popping in for a chat & a cuppa<\/span><\/strong><\/span> most days, although I am now 'keen' (i.e. feeling excessively fat and under duress) to switch visitors to a more active programme, e.g. coming for a walk with me or meeting me in the Village so I can walk up and down for exercise as part of the deal. All part of trying to shed the blubber and get the wobbly bod back into sonme kind of recognisable human shape. Had my first half effort at finding an outfit for Mikey & Margo's wedding in April – now that was short lived as some bald fat blob stared back in the unforgiving changing room light… grimmer than a grim thing on a truly grim day.<\/p>\n And I have to find something to wear to a 40th 'come as the 1980's' bash<\/span><\/strong><\/span>… I was toying with either going as Duncan Goodhew or Telly Savalas but I'm not sure I have the bollocks – literal or metaphorical – to pull it off. And god forbid there might be some photos if I did, no amount of cocktails would make up for that horror, or how cold it would be in a pair of Speedos, or sucking a lolly all night saying 'who loves ya baby'… no, another idea required methinks. Anyone got an XL 1980's costume up their sleeve that I can borrow???!!!<\/p>\n More next week once seen Prof on Tues<\/span><\/strong><\/span>… here's hoping for a stable paraprotein and no other blood surprises. If I can get at least two more scores on a nice stable trajectory, then will be ready (as much as will ever be, and not without some trepidation) to go back to work. Its been 5 and a half months now – and to think at the beginning I thought I'd be back in 3 weeks, what a mug.
