Still recovering from a brilliant long weekend away – Hawksey was on his annual boys sailing bonanza<\/strong>, heading over to Ireland on the distinctly unappealing North Sea. So Pamela La Gregory & I went to Lymington for a top night out with the salty sea dogs, then pottered en voiture along the Devon & Cornwall coastline stopping off at Portland Bill, Chesil Beach (which somehow does make you sing 'Chesil Beach, far away in time, Chesil beach far in time..'), a swannery of all things (where a cygnet promptly keeled over backwards and died in front of us, charming!). buying cakes and eggs from the good baking ladies of Dorchester, and a night in lovely Dartmouth till we re-met the boat in Fowey.<\/p>\n Which was deeply surreal! 8 of us piled into a harbourfront pub to watch the Lions match but it was heaving, so we whipped into the small British Legion clubhouse next door, paying a whopping \u00a32 to get a nice big screen TV and cheap beer, then looked sideways at a strange gap in the crowd… only to see Princes William and Harry<\/strong> plonked on the banquette, tucking into a pint watching the game! Bee-zarre. <\/p>\n Clearly the monarchy are not only born with a silver spoon in their mouths but also iron-clad bladders as the dear boys didn't nip for a pee during the whole match, unlike every other nelly-bladdered man in the place. Do they have royal catheters? Or an in-built lager absorption system? Anyway – was a billy bonus to have something else to gawp at other than the sight of us losing yet another bloody match.<\/p>\n Then sailed on the boat down to St Mawes<\/strong>, stunning little place, fab lunch.. then the monster trek back by taxi to Fowey (ouch!) and home in Voodoo with his roof down. Then drove to Manchester on Mon (nice to see Rach & Rog, the squirlies and little lord Charlie) and back from Bolton on Tues, so all in all, I now have half the insect population glued to my windscreen and they ain't coming off.<\/p>\n Oh yes, and all fine on the health front still, till see Prof on 8 July pre-hols. Did I mention hols – CAN'T WAIT! Phoenix, Utah, Bryce & Zion Canyons, Las Vegas andthe Scottsdale Shopping Mall (named after me given how much wedge I spent in it last time) all await. We've even booked to see the Australian BeeGees in vegas – so that'll be a night to remember!
