Well, the magic day is almost upon us – tomorrow we're off to Laos and Cambodia for a two week trip that I feel I've waited a bloody long time to see happen.<\/p>\n
All of life's best efforts to thwart it seem to be held at bay for now:<\/p>\n
– We're flying on Thai so the bloody BA strike can go suck itself in its lemony face, can't touch us<\/p>\n
– We're flying via Bangkok but apparently the handy govermental coup hasn't yet spread as far as the airport (it did last time!) so either they're waiting till Saturday morning when we land or maybe we've escaped the worst of the red paint throwing and tanks in the streets<\/p>\n
– My endless cough\/cold has been seen by the nice chest lady at Parkside and she's not overly worried. Even the cherry flavoured suspecsion I am squirting by syringe down my throat each day isn't as vile as these often are<\/p>\n
– My chest x-ray was normal, so that makes a nice change (they're keeping quiet about the full skeletal survey I had 2 weeks ago, so am just hoping that's not going to be a nasty surprise to come back to. One shoulderblade and my left rib area are feeling 'odd' so please god don't let it be anything sinister)<\/p>\n
– Work's been ok – the 2 Turkey trips pre-holiday have both moved to April, which made life infinitely better. Lots more time ot stroke cats and actually find some clothes I can fit into to pack for the trip<\/p>\n
– And I'm only marginally nervous about the whole trip now. Its a funny balance between being deserate to have these brilliant experiences and being afraid that something will go majorly wrong. God its shit living under the endless shadow of fucking cancer. But it would be more of a shame to not do them, so once more unto the breach my friends….<\/p>\n
So now the only concern now is that humidity in Laos is 95% and I am going to look like a curly grey & ginger mophead for the next 2 weeks. Hat is packed and H primed not to take any close up photos!<\/p>\n
