Went down to Lymington to reacquaint ourselves with H's beloved boat, which is definitely the other woman in his life. The man was literally hopping from foot to foot like an infatuated schoolboy, spying Mrs Robinson across the room. 'Ooh boat-y, I've missed you, I love my boat-y' went the besotted crooning….. thank god no-one could hear us.<\/p>\n
Massive pile of fruits de mer and cocktails ensured, as is essential to keep this reluctant sailor happy, followed by some actual 'going out on le bateau'. Hence me swaying at my desk right now, even though i) I've been on dry land for 24 hours and ii) I'm actually sober for once.<\/p>\n
Cracking sail over to the Isle of White (Pile of Shite) on Sat, ending up dancing on the tables in the Folly Inn as ever with a bunch of ruddy-cheeked sailing codgers and teenagers who really should know better. Pammy G – great to have your irrepressible company for the weekend – still can't believe you lead me astray with all those Millionaire Shortbreads (approximately equal to the new number of calories now firmly residing on my hips).<\/p>\n
TWO PLEDGES WERE MADE ON THIS TRIP:<\/p>\n
i) To FINALLY do a proper diet so I'm not a heifer at Le Touquet in May, nor harpooned on the beach for my Chinese-saleable body parts when we get to Curacao in June<\/p>\n
ii) To sort out my GOPPING GINGER MOP – no offence Curly, but the time has come to tame the Wild Bagpuss Lookee-Likee with grey squirrel whiskers currently exercising squatters' rights on my head…..<\/p>\n
