So, many thanks to all who tipped up to our Engagement Drinkies last Friday – brilliant to see you all and thanks for the unexpected mountain of birthday \/ engagement cards and prezzies – mighty fine idea, this doubling up on special days!<\/p>\n

Just wanted to de-mystify the quesiton of why Hawksey was late to his own party. Wasn't just him dallying in the shower and primping his eyebrows - when I got home, it transpired that he and White Van Man Rossco had plotted a birthday surprise for me, removed the crappy old white painted pine drinks cabinet in our dining room and replaced it with a fantastic dark wood cabinet, requested by H and made by Ross's fine woodman's hand.<\/p>\n

What a cracking birthday prezzie – and what a voyage down memory lane, looking over the copius bottles of bevs that came out of it! Many dating from when I left United Distillers, god about 16 years ago, amazing how well a Johnnie Walker can keep…<\/p>\n

Anyway – was a lovely eve, the Elderflower Mojitos a particular hit – thanks to all who nagged us to 'do something' (although I thought actually getting engaged was already quite a good effort!). And we even discovered who had given us the very nice Gaucho vouchers (Gaucho voucho?) – which came with no name on them! Top marks Claire & Jon -and a result of a night all round…<\/p>\n
