Friday<\/strong><\/p>\n- Started with an early morning 'beasting' by my personal trainer, not impressed that I have only lost 1 pound in the last three weeks and threatening to take me off alcohol (how cruel is that??) for the four weeks pre-wedding if the Scotty lard does not start magically dripping down the floor cracks soon<\/p>\n
– Then headed with H to a pub near Winchester to hand over lots of the wedding on-the-day organising to Melanie the planner – quite cathartic to offload various fiddly taskettes but in return she made some good suggestions which sadly have plonked themselves firmly back on my to-do list…. arse!<\/p>\n
– Then had a very nice 'date' with the future Mrs Scott in the rather naffly-named but nice 'Fish Place' right on the Thames somewhere around Battersea Heliport (fortunately no choppers buzzing about during our scoff). Yet another Top Table triumph of a 5-6 course tasting menu for 50% off, so a highly acceptable \u00a325 per head, all washed down with some beautifully produced mojitos and a cracking river view. Recommended!<\/p>\n
Saturday<\/strong><\/p>\n– Sadly a SHITE game of hockey for my regular Saturday team, Aces. Having secured our promotion to the League above for next season, we then went and had our worst game all season against the ratehr young and nippy Chiswick team that narrowly missed out on promotion, but clearly wanted to whip our older and slower asses roundly instead… Which they did in spades! Played at the exceptionally unglamorous Linford Christie Stadium, stunningly positioned in a total shithole round the back of Wormwood Scrubs and the only miracle being that my car still had all 4 wheels when we legged it post game. Oh yes, did I mention the 0-5 thrashing we endured in between? Shockingly crap, and I left my hockey stick there to add insult to injury but apparently it has been rescued, so not quite the utterly pants start to a sunny day that it could have been.<\/p>\n
– Then zoomed down to Janine & Ross's cottage to watch the rugby as H had hopped on a plane to Dubbers and gone to watch it in person. I think I got the better deal (fabulous roast lambie), given how crap England played although he did end up having beers with Jason Leonard, with Jonny W and Will Carling in the same bar late doors, so was a happy boy. <\/p>\n
Sunday<\/strong><\/p>\n– Whizzed back up to town on what transpired to be only 13 amounts of puff in my front tyre instead of 32, whoops, to play hockey in the brilliant old Wimbledon Vets team that gets together and rolls out once or twice each year. Under the magnificent captaincy of Mary Greenham, who even organised sunshine for the entire afternoon. Although the trestle table heaving with tempting sticky cakes was a slightly cruel touch… Always really nice to play with the 'old faces' who are a much higher standard than me, so great to share a pitch with, and even Great Britain's most capped player was on our side, so that was quite handy in defence…. (once dozy spanner here had realised who she was. I did wonder why she was announced in slightly reverential hushed & awed tones.. Durrrr)<\/p>\n
– And then topped off the weekend with a stonking dinner at Woodsie's in Epsom. Although H by this point was virtually dead man walking given the quantities of liquid black magic Guinness consumed on Sat eve, and all of us were floored by the ginormous dumplings in the main course. Yum, yummedy yum all round, the perfect end to a day. And as I knocked off my first 4 figure sum of calories (1,050) during the hockey tournament, for once I felt justified in feeding my face so well!<\/p>\n
But here we are again, Monday schmonday, lots to do and 7 weeks to the wedding – EEEEEEEEEEEEEEKKKKKKKKKKK<\/p>\n
