So, its meant to be high summer, scorchio August and I appear to be heading to Cornwall tomorrow to face a weasly 17 degrees and 40% chance of 'precipitation' (why don't they just say pissing drizzly annoying rain?) every day.<\/p>\n
Still, have got 5 nights on the lovely Magus to look forward to, and I will be for the first time sporting my rather tragic 'Magus Gilet' – yes, one of those sad middle aged sleeveless numbers in a slightly unfathomable rain-drip-off inflammable material, which H has ordered for his myriad crew. Well, ordered for 'The Boys' anyway, as when I asked where my one was he pretended he'd of course ordered one of the pile for me, when he clearly hadn't - do these men really think you can't spot them covering their 'actually I forgot to get one for you, my dear wife' asses??<\/p>\n
So – we also have a pretty full boat too – Nicky & Jules, Sophie & Keytes and Sarah Kelleher. Jules is a boy in case you can't tell, a token effort to rebalance the testosterone onboard (although given that all we gorgeous girls play hockey, I suspect its got a fair bit without him). No Vicki Holgate as she is off playing hockey for England, no less. Yes, it's Over 40s – we're all way too crusty and slow for it to be the youngsters team – but an England cap she gets nonetheless.<\/p>\n
Although actually I gather its some kind of a pin. Or a Brownie badge. Or some slight fobbing off with some almost-metallic-if-you-don't bite-on-it-but-we're-all-on-a-budget-these-days piece of Union Flag-esque memorabilia, but we're all hoping she will thrash the Leeky Welsh as this is clearly imperative in any sport. Bik – bring home that cup!<\/p>\n
So, back to boaty - think the plan is not to head for the Scillies (weather's a bit iffy, its bloody miles and H still hasn't forgotten how much I moaned about the endless bish-bosh-bash trip there and back to sunny France a few weeks back). Instead, it'll be enjoying the splendours of Fowey Week (knitted plant pots, hairy cider in the British Legion and hook-a-puffin contests), plus lots of fishing and trying out the new BBQ which said Captain Hawkes has had installed on the rear of the boat.<\/p>\n
Then straight from there to our joyous annual 3 days of Director Awaydays in Devon. Note to self – try and have a shower before I get there, as 5 days of boat musk and lived-in-ness may not go down so well with some of my more fragrant colleagues. (Although for one or two, I may suddenly remind them of themselves….).<\/p>\n
So – will be back posting on here from next Wed\/Thurs I am guessing, unless I magically get online sur le bateau and am inspired. I will have my close friend I-pad with me, so who knows if I will work out how to do Typepad on there, and post a photo of the inevitably ginormous bass I am intended to track down & land, like a piscine dog……<\/p>\n
