So then, is this why I never seem to get any jobs done around the house and have a pile in my 'to do' bowl like the towering inferno?<\/p>\n
Friday morning – PT at the gym and the joyous monthly weigh in – not an ounce on but not an ounce off, so a stern talking to from Nick, who does for some reason blame Hawksey for my lack of weight loss, and I for one and not going to tell him he's wrong..<\/p>\n
Fri afternoon – off to the (Not So) Affordable Art Fair. We may get the entry tickets for free these days as seasoned old arty-farties but it goes not one iota of the way to offsetting the cost of actually buying stuff there! 'Affordable', my shiny pince-nez…. Still we did emerge with one posh picture and one print, which was highly amusing as Hawksey was very pleased with the 'wide-eared dog' print he'd chosen, only to then read the name on it – 'Harry Hare' being a very strange name for a canine chum indeed….<\/p>\n
And then Fri eve – a night chez nous on the dusty sofa, a small bit of calm in the weekend storm<\/p>\n
So to Sat morning – off at 9am to play hockey at a very sunny Paddington Rec, to burn off a pleasing 1100 calories (the upside) in a rather busy game as we got whopped 0-5 by some rudely-young things, (yes, the downside of us having gome up a league).<\/p>\n
And then back for a bath – the one clean thing in our house – before heading off to Pamela-la's house for a fine evening of lamb, fire-throwing (including Hawksey having a go and wrapping the two burning chains first round his head and then his undercarriage, skills) and the usual ripping apart of Pam's appalling record collection, Yes we are talking 33 inch vinyl, a myriad of obscure French musical artists and a distinct lack of anything from the last 2 decades.<\/p>\n
And so, post-rugby viewing and a fine bacon butty in bed, to Nursey's birthday lunch on Sunday. Which started off very well – 20 chums round a table (me & H sadly being the oldest gits in the room), then descended into wine-fuelled mayhem and a crazed game of musical chairs and trying to let one poor woman out of the lock-malfunctioning toilet. Sorry to Hattie for 'hip-bashing' you off your chair to avoid me being out (but not that sorry). And then to me getting home at a sensible school night 7pm….. only for a very worse for wear Mr H to arrive at a rather non-pleasing 1.40pm.<\/p>\n
Or so I thought, as I heard his key in the door and then…. nothing else. No door closing, no footsteps drunkenly bumbling up the 2 flights, bed-wards, no flinging off of clothes and tripping on the items cunningly left on the darkened stairs to punish his late arrival..<\/p>\n
So I waited 10 minutes before finally donning a dressing gown and very grumpy wife-face, and traipsing down to look for him. Cue one utterly hammered husband on the outside doorstep, who (when asked what he was doing standing there) said 'I thought I had come in'……. and then a rather sad little 'help me'! Ah……<\/p>\n
And thence to a fabulous rest of night with rumbling snores, a disturbed cat and a very grumpy wife who had to get up for work just a few hours later, while hubby rotted merrily on the pit until 12 noon on Monday when I woke him up with a phone call! It's all right for some… AND he wasn't sick though god knows how…. has the alcohol capacity of a narwhal.<\/p>\n
Hence updating El Bloggo now as I am too knackered to work and will be creeping homewards when the big hand gets to the bottom of the clock and the little hand is on the magic number 5…. can't come soon enough.<\/p>\n
