So, I get back from hockey yesterday a bit later than usual, about 4pm – and Mum's sitting in the lounge, in front of the TV which has gone off, without the light on, looking a bit blue.<\/p>\n
Me: 'Hey Mum, how you doing?'<\/p>\n
Mum: 'Well I'm feeling a bit sad actually, no-one came to give me any lunch'<\/p>\n
Me: 'Really? That's very unlike Silviya, she said this morning she'd be back at 12 noon, for 2 hours'<\/p>\n
Mum: 'Well, she didn't come'.<\/p>\n
Me: 'That's really weird. What did you do? Are you hungry?'<\/p>\n
Mum: 'Well., no, I'm alright actually. I went to the kitchen and took a sandwich out of the cupboard'<\/p>\n
Me: 'But I didn't leave you a sandwich – and it wouldn't have been in the cupboard….' <\/p>\n
(Cue shuffling around the kitchen, checking the fridge for what might be missing and in the bin for any telltale wrappers)<\/p>\n
Me: 'Does having a pea & ham M&S risotto and a creme caramel for pud ring any bells Mum?'<\/p>\n
Mum: 'No, certainly not. No-one came and I had a sandwich'<\/p>\n
Me: 'Well, did you also do a white wash and hang the duvet cover over the stairs and the rest of it on the airer in our bathroom on the top floor?'<\/p>\n
Mum: 'No-ooooooooooooo……..'<\/p>\n
And so it then sank in that maybe Silviya had (of course) been and fed Mum, and done the wash, and changed Mum's bed!<\/p>\n
Quite a relief, but blimey it means I've got to know what's in the firdge – and what on earth I ate myself. Was starting to think I'd hoovered the risotto in the night as it was the first thing that needed to go…..<\/p>\n
Ah the thrills and spills of Stroud Road. Mum right now is out at church and H is umpiring in the peeing rain (that'll teach him to try and avoid house jobs on a Sunday) so I have just watched one episode of the Big C (still very good, if a slightly weird viewing choice) and a very good Home Makeover thingy on my tod, a nice Sunday treat before she is returned home by a kind church person.<\/p>\n
And H & I have just put her upstairs living room back together since it was painted this week, so who knows, she might like to sit up there this afternoon and a bit more rainy-day sofa-lounging, maybe even with luxury Sunday Times, could be in order…<\/p>\n
