Yes, I know this should be followed with the words 'Daaaaaaahhhling' and some exciting description of fabulously anticipated meals, a swanky chi-chi hotel and a Liaison Dangeureuse with some hot toyboy over Fruits de Mer and champers, but sadly….its just a workshop.<\/p>\n
And one which rather annoyingly someone else (a client, god forbid this should happen internally) had already written the process for, so it starts at 8.30am, has a poxy half hour for lunch and finishes at 7.15pm. Nice!! Not. Oh and that's before the 15 different speakers all run over by 5 minutes and we're eating Onion Soupe au clair de a lune de minuit. Thats in the bloody dark, for you non-fluent frog speakers out there (self included!).<\/p>\n
Anyway, just had a bon weekend on boatie, the first sail of Le Magus with me for the year. Went off to Weymouth, H's old stamping ground as there was some stag night reunion thing on, which all his old crusty Dorset hockey mates were tipping up to. Ended up dancing in some bar with the (still rather lovely I have to say) Ian Barbour (GB hockey player, still fit in both senses of the word) as well as a bunch of 40\/50 somethings in various states of pissedness.<\/p>\n
They decided to take on some cocky young group of hockey lads in a boat race (drinking game, knock back your pint and stick empty glass on head, then next person goes). Ended up with a lot of semi naked men and a call to drop trousers and see which team had the more 'men' on it – cue the young lads scarpering terrified and the lovely bald, fat oldies thinking they still had it in them…. ah bless.<\/p>\n
Also managed to get John Nurse to throw up which is no mean feat as that boy can drink, as Hannah and I miraculously emerged unscathed despite having created a new great drink (oh dear) – the lovely vodka and Purple WKD mix. I am swaying on my kitchen bar stool as I type this, at the very memory of it… oooooogggghhhhh. Also reminded me that at the very moment we finally won a vast \u00a33 from the Pub Quiz machine, having been on there for about 2 hours while the boys talked boy stuff, Mr H reached up and turned the bloody thing off before the coins had time to drop. Still haven't given him quite a hard enough time for that one!<\/p>\n
Anyway, Mr H liked seeing his old crew, had them on the boat for a few drinks and a LOT of cheese, spent the rest of the weekend trying to prize H, Hannah & John away from the rather gorgeous dogs on boats next to us (a big canine hi to Fergus and whatever the hell the one in the dog life jacket was called) and a lot more repeating to H that 'we really can't get a dog, sorry darling', over and over again. He's even marked out where its basket would go on the boat and in the kitchen, it's getting worrying….<\/p>\n
And thus to now – not too jaded somehow, bag packed ready for Le Eurostar and hopefully 25 well behaved peeps compared to the Polish horrors a few weeks back. Here's hoping anyway!<\/p>\n
