So another craaaaaazy day on Baros. Pretended that today is our wedding anniversary, and suckered them into providing breakfast in our villa care of two very nice men, plus the vast excitement of a bottle of Prosecco to go wild with. Not a WHOLE bottle of course, that would be insanely profligate, just an ickle bitty half with some witticism about ritual drinking on the label. Clearly written by some old soak who certainly didn't live in alcoholic austerity here.
\nHave spent the morning fruitlessly trying to photograph the flurry of tuna, chasing jacks, chasing baitfish through the low tide shallows, all of which look like a blur of turquoise just missed it emptiness, sigh. And scraping candle wax off the deck, which some knob, ok me, managed to lob everywhere last night while trying to check H wasn't cheating at cards. How can one bloody candle make SO much stuff? None of which will dry as its so hot, so is a big obvious white ooze in a huge arc and immune to my wellintentioned but ineffectual teaspoon scrapings. Oh the glamour..
\nHave now spent all week assiduously collecting and sun roasting 6 perfect hand sized hard brown pods from some tree that everyone tells us is 'like a coconut' without knowing what it really is. Still, they'll look nice in our loo, until 6 head-sized Maldivian tarantulas hatch and gnaw our faces off in bed, knowing our luck, that is.
\nH is busy negotiating a room upgrade at Huvafen Fushi, man has so far dropped price 30% and has little idea how much more the master will get him down by, before the deal is sealed. Must look out for the spit in next caipirinha….
\nRight, back to my teaspoon oeuvre. And the japs next door who are breaking every social stereotype by shagging on their back step into the water. Urgh. Must go snorkel innocently by and see if they are quicker than the flying tuna…
