That some CDs are very weirdly worth 6 times more than others?<\/p>\n
Just tried out the very entertaining 'scanning your CDs into the Music Magpie app' game – as its probably time we got rid of the massive box of old CDs under the stairs, especially given that Scrumpy has chewed a sizeable hole in its side, and it seemed kinder to pack them off to a good, loving new home. Minus a puppy.<\/p>\n
So – it was actually pretty easy (even for a numpty like me) to do. <\/p>\n
Download app onto phone or ipad, register, then scan each CD barcode with your phone (no having to type in the numbers, god tech is good sometimes), and it immediately comes up with a price.<\/p>\n
Which, sadly, in most instances is a slightly risible 30p per CD. Outrageous – surely 'Wonderful Madness', 'Suzanne Vega' and 'The Best of the BeeGees' are priceless?<\/p>\n
But then there are the more interesting few that score in the 40-50p group: Good on ya 'Kelly Clarkson', Chris de Burgh and even the soundtrack to Philadelphia, who'd have thought it?<\/p>\n
And thence upwards, into the getting tragically exciting realms of ther 70ish pence group: A small but perfectly formed pile of Ultravox – Quartet, Heaven 17 remix, Marillion Misplaced Childhood and again, the oddballs – The Mambo Kings Play Songs of Love and War of the Worlds, plus a dodgy 3-pack of Christmas toons. Obscure or what, who is the weirdo Magpie who likes this mix of old tat?<\/p>\n
Onwards then, one more stratus upwards into the crap zome of Black Sabbath and ACDC (quite frankly I'd pay them to take these specimens of H's collection away) and the unlikely Top Gear Driving anthems, some Abba anthology and some Yazoo (ah, you gotta love Yazoo)<\/p>\n
And ultimately to the creme de la CD creme:<\/p>\n
Coming in, in second place – The Wall by Pink Floyd, at a whopping \u00a31.32<\/p>\n
But topping them all – and yah sucks boo to every one of you who has (quite rightly, really) taken the piss out of my musical taste over the years.<\/p>\n
The winner?<\/p>\n
LES MISERABLES ! One ancient double CD and not even with the sexy Alfie Boe on the cover.<\/p>\n
