What do you get when you cross a dog with a parrot? A Springer Spaniel who likes to spend car journeys perched on her master's shoulder…..<\/p>\n

And from there, to Scrumpy's first time on the beach and her first swim in the sea, interspersed with trying to pick mussels off the shore rocks (which we then did for our starter, bloody delicious)..<\/p>\n

All the while, wearing my new 'Look, its a Giant Human Ribena-Berry' North Face rain jacket, care of my husband, who swears its a good colour on me….. (the word 'not' springs to mind!)<\/p>\n

But at least one person is happy – the 'One Man and his Dog' much-looked-forward-to scenario for Mr H was being played out in force – endless throwing of the tennis ball on the beach (some of them actually for Scrumpy), blowing of her training whistle (falling on deaf furry ears as ever) and lots of dog-looking-adoringly-at-master, unlike the 'savage-hound-beast-biting-mummy's-nose-with-fury' that is reserved for lucky me. Hey ho, Hawksey was happy and I… well, I had chips with my lunch to rebalance life<\/p>\n
