Is it just me, or are we due one of those annual 'saddest\/grimmest\/crappiest day of the year' type days soon?<\/p>\n
January just kind of sucks – it's all about weight loss, trying to turn what would be fun soirees into 'healthy eating' night out (we had a terribly unsuccessful one last night, was meant to be a brisk, calorie-burning walk to Earlsfield and a grilled dinner with salad, ended up being a 'can't be arsed, let's order enough asian lard from McChina to keep half the Philippines going, which will then wake us up all night with a raging 'too much hoisin sauce' thirst on).<\/p>\n
And Jan's also about somehow getting up the steam to get work underway – which is precisely why I seem to be prevaricating and booking a steady stream of trips away instead of knuckling down.<\/p>\n
Even taking down the Xmas tree decorations this morning is an effort – humping the box out of the crawl space, down the stairs, over the dog gate, stopping Scrumpy demolishing every bauble that comes off the tree – it's almost easier to lob the entire thing out and watch the neighbours nick the nice bits…<\/p>\n
I think I'm having a bah humbug morning (and bet I'm not the only one) – Scrumpy has covered the kitchen in water (her new favourite trick, scooping it out of her bowl in huge pawfuls, as she snorts bubbles in it – its a canine Sodastream kind of thing. I've realised I've ordered two Lonely Planets to both Argentina and Tibet (shout if you want one!) in a fit of excessive pre-Xmas Amazon-mania. Hawksey has debugged to the relative safety of Sainsburys to get milk, in an attempt to avoid having to do his admin mountain on the kitchen counter. And we're debating how bad it would be to have lovely crisp spud roasties with the leftover beef tonight, when we're neant to be going carbs-free in the evenings.. Cabbage just ain't quite the same.<\/p>\n
Oh happy days! Come on February – you've gotta be better than this! At least we've got some cinema stuff coming up that I fancy – here's hoping Les Mis is good or the US teen school group singing thing that's also in the diary (though not Mr H's – cheers Liz!)<\/p>\n
