Aaaaaaah, me and the Mister had a totally fab time at Hannah & John's wedding at Berkeley Castle last weekend. Doesn't he brush up rather nicely in his Master of Ceremonies outfit? And you can even cop a look at the bride's poshy hairdo in the background… (Nice photo Nicola L!) And all the more amazing that I just managed to work out how to rob it out of Facebook…<\/p>\n
Great weekend, somewhat reminscent of our wedding two years ago – yes, it's really two years despite several people thinking only 365 days had passed. Even a castle and BBQ to bring the memories flooding back. I ended up sitting next to a famous Dutch hockey player at the wedding breakfast – Bram van Asselt – ironically only famous to me as he's about 50 now but was good in my brother's era, probably the last time that I had any clue who was in which national squad (ie when I was still stalking potential future hubbies – Bram had a lucky escape!) Charming and very self-deprecating chap, most unlike any GB Men's players I have ever met…<\/p>\n
And then spent half the rest of the weekend explaining to a couple of people that while we are indeed married, I am not actually also called Hawksey these days… we do still have separate identities (if equally ludicrous ones) Is it just me that thought that was a bit weird?<\/p>\n
Anyway – a tres bon weekend, and the new Mr & Mrs Nurse are now off for 3 weeks in the Maldives. I did suggest they might want to pack a lot of books…. and avoid crushing their IPad (laden with reading materials, games and all my intended 10 days of entertainment) on the way out, something I will never quite get over the horror of!<\/p>\n
