Me and the mister are still reeling from an epic long lunch Chez Fitzherbert yesterday. Never seen so much top banana food – and nearly all of it carbs free (if not fat free – I think I had rather more of the sausages and avo dip than is even vaguely socially acceptable). And am still hoping no-one clocked my surreptitious extra helpings of the cakey-creamy-Stone'sGingerwiney-passionfruity mountain of joy, mmmm.<\/p>\n
The afternoon was amusingly punctuated by the iPad-absorbed silence of my godson and the shouts of his not-so-quiet younger brother 'can we go now Mummy?' 'when are we going to the park' 'I'm bored' – as he beetled backwards and forwards at a rate of knots on all four hands and feet for some reason known only to him. And the gentle snores of his Dad, Rich as he toppled off into a Sunday sleep on the sofa…<\/p>\n
Pants Boat Race though hey? Firstly the ridiculously late start time in the gloom and drizzle – what happened to the usual 2.30 stroke-off? And that poor Cambridge guy that got dragged off his seat and lost his oar – I hope he gets the cox in a dark alley some time in revenge for steering that boats too close - being publically semi-drowned is never a good moment on your big Varsity day…<\/p>\n
Anyway – hats off to the Fitzer for the awesome spread. And twas fantastic to see the Flyd down from Manchest-ah and the entire Crowther clan. Now I just need to be good on the food this week… oh wait (or should that be 'weight'?) I'm heading off in a mo to a nobby gastro pub in Marlow for a surprise birthday lunch for Nicky Anderson. Am fairly sure she doesn't read my blog (obviously must be illiterate, otherwise why on earth wouldn't she every day??) and we're meeting in 2 hours so should be safe by now to write this.<\/p>\n
